COFFEE CUP Zine

Experimental Publication, Graphic Illustration, Fabrication

MAR - 2024

︎ Investigating relationships with a disposable coffee cup — past and future.

︎ Experimenting with novel publication forms and 2D print / fabrication: risograph printing, lasercutting, book-binding.

︎︎︎ Published and printed in Experimental Publishing with Tycho Horan.

ROCK BOX

Product Design, Graphic Design, Packaging

FEB - 2023

︎ Playing with materiality, the packaging experience, and rocks.

︎︎︎ Created during my Winter 2023 The Critical Artifact course with Maximilian Werner and Max Fertik.

Drawing from my love of blind boxes, I did a deep dive into the world of packaging and how a growing need for sustainability calls us to rexamine our relationship with material.

With this project I hope to highlight the material novelty in everything we throw away.

National Park Service
Trip Planning Guide

Graphic Design, Icon/ Logo Design, Illustration

DEC - 2022

︎How can we help visitors plan safer, more rewarding trips to National Parks and Monuments?

︎︎︎ Created during my internship with the National Park Service as a part of the Public Risk Management Program.

I worked alongside public safety professionals to redesign existing NPS trip plan documents. Through many rounds of sketches, wireframes, and edits, I took the updated language from my team to design a new, expanded layout that makes dense safety information more accessible.

I also provided new illustrations, icons, and graphics to  represent the vast array of parks in the national system while also adding a bit of modern vibrance to the park service’s iconic visual identity.

Maharam Fellowship - Literacy for Environmental Justice

Graphic Design, Icon/ Logo Design, Illustration

SEPT - 2022

︎︎︎ Created as a part of the 2022 RISD Maharam Fellowship.

I designed a set of outreach and education materials with youth-centered nonprofit Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ). Together, these designs bolster LEJ’s organizational development and support their mission of providing green recreational and job opportunities to inner-city youth.

Eco-Adventures Brochure: details LEJ’s recreational offerings for local students and school groups.

Candlestick Point Postcard: has a vintage National Park-style illustration of Candlestick Point on one side and information about LEJ on the other.

LEJ Board Recruitment Flyer: reflects recent organizational news, updates, and values and emphasizes LEJ’s key areas of impact.

Forests & Fungi Animation

2D Animation, Illustration

NOV - 2022

︎ How can animation facilitate science education?

︎ How can we teach high school biology students about mycorrihizal networks and how they facilitate tree-fungi symbiosis?

︎︎︎ Created alongside Meera Singh and Sydney Hsieh as a part of the Communicating Science through Animation class with Steven Subotnick and John Stein.  With guidance from high school biology teacher Aaron Mathieu.

We are often taught that nature is ruled by “survival of the fittest.” An often overlooked aspect of forest ecology, fungal mycorrhizal networks (formed by symbiotic interactions between fungi and tree) create an underground highway that form the foundation of a thriving forest ecosystem.

︎ I animated the middle 2D-animated organism section, creating mushroom and tree characters to bring the script to life.
